This fine mesh filter intake guard is designed as a direct replacement for the stock intake used on Fluval FX series canister filters.
The original intake uses wide slats, which can allow baby fish (fry) and plant debris to be pulled into the filter. This upgraded design uses a tight diamond mesh pattern that helps prevent small fish from being sucked in while still maintaining strong water flow.
It’s a simple upgrade that solves a common issue for aquarium owners—especially those keeping guppies, cichlids, or breeding tanks.
Unlike the original intake, which is made in two pieces and tends to become brittle and crack over time, this version is designed as a more durable, single-piece replacement.
